Winter In Edgewater Park 2010This is the entrance to a home not far from mine. It was the end of a crushing winter, the snow was melting and it was a still and gray day. I thought it was beautiful so I completed a sketch of it that day in my car but I just finished the painting on 5/3/10.

I stopped at my local deli one morning for some coffee. Next to the register sat a full bowl of fruit for sale; included were oranges, bananas and apples. That evening I stopped at the deli for a paper. The fruit bowl now had one orange, one banana and two apples. The next morning I went into the deli for my coffee and there sat only two apples, the same two from the day before. Out of pity, I bought them and decided to paint them, and make them…immortal. When the painting was finished, I threw them away because actually, I don’t like apples.
